about

This is the oldest song in the Demo Resuscitation Project. I wrote the original version of this in 2008. This version sounds virtually nothing like that demo (which is on this bandcamp under 2008 demos). I've been meaning to update it for a while. It only took ten years to remember to do it!!

lyrics

If you’re having second thoughts
You promised when we talked
You wouldn't change your mind
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned
From years of getting burned
The past belongs behind

Someone better call a hearse
For better or for worse
We’ve gone and lost our heads
You can call me morbid, sure
But we’ve been through this before
There’s no bringing back the dead

Here or gone, it’s for the best
Our love has drawn its last breath

So when I turn my back, don’t turn me around
There’s no reason for that, it’s a path we’ve been down

Darling did you dream me up
With a heart too tough to touch
You see I’ve had my doubts
Were we high enough to fall?
Did I know your mind at all?
I can’t figure it out

Here or gone, it’s for the best
Our love has drawn its last breath

So when I turn my back, don’t turn me around
There’s no reason for that, it’s a path we’ve been down
