about

Written and recorded March 21, 2011 after I woke up and decided to accept the fact that I'm stuck being a grown-up.

lyrics

I remember playing games
Like they were going out of style
Every LEGO had a name
We jumped in every leaf pile
Now I only play
With six strings in my hand
I’ve left behind those days
In favor of a band

Is it strange that I never feel homesick?
Is it weird that away feels like home?
I’ve tried to replace the highs and lows
I’ve tried to replace my youth with the road

I remember lying down
On my bedroom floor
Light covered by a clown
Glow-in-the-dark stars
Now weeks at a time
My bedroom is a car
Am I so different than age five?
The world is my backyard

Is it strange that I never feel homesick?
Is it weird that away feels like home?
I’ve tried to replace the highs and lows
I’ve tried to replace my youth with the road

I will stick to the plan
Designed by a future man
And if I could go back
I would stay
I would stay on the same track
